Gene Solutions Hosts Symposium on ctDNA-Guided Breast Cancer Management at the Thai Breast Disease Society Annual Conference 2026

Clinical perspectives and Asian real-world evidence highlight the role of multi-omic profiling and hybrid ctDNA monitoring in precision breast cancer care. 

Bangkok, Thailand – 19 August 2026 – Gene Solutions Thailand hosted a dedicated symposium at the Thai Breast Disease Society (TBS) Annual Conference 2026, held from 18–21 August in Bangkok. The session, titled “ctDNA-guided management in breast cancer: from emerging evidence to clinical practice,” brought together clinical and medical affairs perspectives on how circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA), comprehensive molecular profiling and longitudinal monitoring are shaping precision breast cancer care. Approximately 250 participants attended the symposium. 

Clinical perspectives on ctDNA in breast cancer management
Dr Harit Suwanrusme, Chief of the Molecular Oncology Division at Horizon Cancer Center, Bumrungrad International Hospital, presented on the status of ctDNA in breast cancer management.

He highlighted ctDNA as a minimally invasive tool with growing potential for real-time molecular monitoring, including assessment of minimal residual disease (MRD), recurrence risk and treatment response. Evidence discussed during the session showed that persistent ctDNA positivity after neoadjuvant therapy is associated with poorer outcomes, while ctDNA clearance may indicate a more favourable response. Long-term surveillance data further demonstrated that post-operative ctDNA positivity is strongly associated with recurrence and may detect molecular signals months before clinical or radiological relapse, supporting earlier risk assessment and more personalised, risk-adapted care. 

Advancing patient centred care with multi-omic profiling and hybrid ctDNA monitoring
Ida Deleskog Lindstroem, Global Medical Affairs Director at Gene Solutions, presented “Multi-omic profiling with hybrid ctDNA monitoring in breast cancer: 
clinical concepts and real-world insights’” introducing Gene Solutions’ latest multi-omic platform, K-4CARE. Asian real-world evidence presented at ASCO 2026 and ASCO Breakthrough 2026 continues to support the prognostic and predictive value of these approaches in both early-stage and metastatic settings.  

Encouraging interest in clinical adoption
A concurrent physician survey of 129 respondents indicated that breast cancer specialists remain at an early stage of ctDNA adoption, while interest is increasing in comprehensive genomic profiling using tumour and liquid biopsy, alongside high-sensitivity ctDNA-MRD monitoring solutions such as K-TRACK and K-4CARE. Respondents showed particular interest in post-surgical MRD assessment, highlighting the potential of longitudinal ctDNA monitoring to support more comprehensive disease surveillance. 

The symposium highlighted the continued move of ctDNA-guided strategies from emerging evidence toward clinical practice, with the goal of supporting earlier residual-risk assessment, more individualised surveillance, and timely treatment decisions for people living with breast cancer.
