What is Cancer Survivors Day?

Cancer Survivors Day® is an annual celebration honoring the strength and resilience of everyone with a history of cancer. It recognizes the ongoing challenges survivors may face and inspires hope through the power of connection and early detection.

Observed each year on the first Sunday of June, Cancer Survivors Day® will take place on June 7, 2026.

Who is a National Cancer Survivor?

According to National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer is considered a cancer survivor—from the moment of diagnosis and throughout the rest of their life.

The term “Cancer Survivor” shifts the focus from illness to resilience and hope, recognizing the strength and courage individuals demonstrate throughout their cancer journey.

What's #LightKnot?

"We tie the knot of connection to untie the knot of fear."

A knot represents strength and being 'tied' to a support system. It shifts the focus from cancer ribbons to the solution: the connection. A knot is always stronger than a single thread. By sharing our stories of early detection, we tie our experiences together to make the journey lighter for everyone.

What can we do?

01

Share Messages of Hope

Every heartfelt message can inspire strength, hope, and healing. Individuals and small groups can honor the courage and resilience of cancer survivors by sharing messages, stories, or simply by shining a light on their survivorship journey.

02

Learn About Cancer Survivorship

Understanding inspires empathy and more meaningful support. Learn about the physical, emotional, and financial challenges that many cancer survivors may face during and beyond treatment.

03

Raise Awareness for Early Detection

Greater awareness can inspire action toward earlier detection. Recognize the importance of regular screening and the life-saving impact of early detection, when more timely treatment and care options may be available.

04

Explore and Share Expert Guidance

Trusted information can help survivors and their loved ones better understand their journey and make informed decisions about screening, treatment, and follow-up care. Access expert guidance and educational resources on cancer prevention, screening, treatment, and survivorship.
