Gene Solutions Malaysia at World Cancer Day 2025: A Potential Game-changer for Early Cancer Detection

Press Release

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 26 February 2025 – Gene Solutions Malaysia is pleased to participate in the World Cancer Day 2025 launch, and enhance public knowledge of cancer prevention and treatment, officiated by the Ministry of Health Malaysia Ministry Of Health, Malaysia (KKM) and National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) on February 26, 2025.

 The Challenge we face

Cancer incidence in Malaysia continues to rise despite advancements in cancer management. Cancer remains a leading cause of death, accounting for 26.44% of deaths in private hospitals and ranking as the fourth leading cause of death in government hospitals (9.3%) (1).

According to the Malaysian Cancer Registry Report (2017-2021), the three most common cancers—breast, colorectal, and lung cancer—account for 41.8% of all cases. Alarmingly, a significant majority of lung cancer cases (76% of men and 94% of women) are diagnosed at advanced stages (Stage 3/4) (2). Late-stage diagnosis severely limits treatment options and drastically reduces survival rates.

One of the actions changing this trend lies in early-stage cancer detection, which increases survival rates, improves quality of life, and significantly reduces the financial burden on patients and their families.
